Earlier this week a flipped school bus caused snags for commuters headed over the High Rise. Now New Orleans Police have confirmed that the bus driver was cited after the bus was not inspected by the city, and the driver did not have a permit. Only half of the school buses operating in New Orleans have been certified. School and city leaders are calling for better oversight. Of the 15 students on the bus, nine were taken to the hospital and released later that afternoon. In August, the city rolled out new standards to strengthen laws and compliance surrounding school bus transportation.
