Yesterday the president of New Orleans Metropolitan Crime Commission, announced a new search engine on the Crime Commission’s website which lists the judicial financial disclosure statements of every state judge, allowing the public to see how they get paid. Every state judge like all elected officials in the state, submit a salary disclosure to the Louisiana Supreme Court which outlines details about how they get paid. But the Supreme Court doesn’t post those online, so individuals have to make a public records request, which deters a lot of people. The new database contains the financial disclosures of all 298 judges, over the past five years.
