The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced yesterday it will pay the mortgage on the family home of slain Mandeville Police Captain Vincent “Vinny” Liberto Jr. Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker said the foundation’s announcement was a huge relief to Liberto’s widow, Tracey, who said her husband took care of most of their financial matters.

Liberto was a decorated Marine combat veteran and a 25-year veteran of the Mandeville Police Department. He and his wife had seven children, several of whom are in the military or local law enforcement.
For others seeking to help the Vincent Liberto Jr. Fund at Resource Bank and the Vincent Liberto Jr. Memorial Fund at Whitney/Hancock Bank have been set up to accept donations to the family.
Tunnel to Towers is named after Stephen Siller, a veteran of the New York Fire Department who was killed in the Sept. 11, terrorist attacks. The foundation has spent more than $125 million since its inception to honor and support first responders, veterans and their families.
