Researchers at Tulane University will soon begin research on the Northshore to develop a vaccine and test treatments against the Coronavirus that is spreading across China. The university announced yesterday that the research will be based out of the Tulane National Primate Research Center in Covington. The research center is one of the first facilities in the U.S. to get permission from the C.D.C. to study samples of the virus, although those samples had not arrived at the center as of yesterday. The center has previously studied HIV, Lyme Disease and tuberculosis, among others. The university says all tests will be conducted under the highest safety and quality standards.
