Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley announced yesterday that due to the Governor’s latest orders to stay at home, her team will suspend the curbside “grab and go” meal program starting Tuesday, March 24. Stilley said the key issue right now was stopping the spread of the virus, and they realized that we could not follow the Governor’s order while preparing meals in the kitchen nor could we guarantee protective gear for our dedicated school food service workers and volunteers. She called her team of more than 150 dedicated school food service employees and volunteers “rock stars,” who put the needs of Tangipahoa students above concerns for their own health and welfare.
