The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Motors Division spent their day at Fontainebleau State Park yesterday, training in preparation for the upcoming parade season. They were training with several local agencies in preparation for Mardi Gras. The motorcycles are used to escort floats to and from parades and are also used for crowd control during the parades. Motorcycles are a common sight for Mardi Gras revelers. It takes many hours of training to handle these 900 pound motorcycles safely in large crowds and narrow streets and the motorcycles have been a huge part of Mardi Gras for many years.
