Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in St. Helena Parish. State Police involvement was requested by the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office after an officer involved shooting. The incident took place on Nichols Road when two St. Helena Parish deputies responded to a residence in an attempt to locate a wanted suspect. During the course of interaction with the suspect, a deputy discharged his duty weapon striking the individual. The deceased suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Antonio Nichols of Independence. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No deputies were injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time. No additional information is available at this time.
