Governor John Bel Edwards announced yesterday that the cyberattack on state computer servers will keep the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicle locations closed throughout the state for the rest of the week, with an anticipated reopening on Monday. The ransomware attack hit at the beginning of the week and impacted 132 servers in state government. The Office of Motor Vehicles has struggled to get its computer system to work properly. Over the summer, several public school systems suffered a similar cyberattack. Troopers will be exercising discretion when encountering recently expired driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations.
