The Slidell Police Department announced Detective Scott O’Shaughnessy as the 2019 Officer of the Year. During 2019, Detective O’Shaughnessy was assigned to the Major Crimes Division where he worked on some of Slidell Police Department’s most difficult cases. Detective O’Shaughnessy was assigned as lead investigator on 83 cases throughout the year, some of which included rapes, robberies and homicides. In addition to his duties as a full-time detective, Detective O’Shaughnessy found time to assist the Slidell Regional Police Academy as a Defensive Tactics Instructor in addition to serving as an operator on the Slidell Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team.
