Shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday, Slidell Police responded to a report of gunshots on Northam Court, which is located in the Country Club Subdivision. When officers arrived, they encountered a distraught man who was holding a weapon. The subject barricaded himself inside of his residence and became increasingly violent towards officers. The Slidell Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team was deployed and officers were able to use several less-lethal options and took the subject into custody. The subject was taken to a local hospital to be mentally evaluated and treated for minor injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. Slidell Police investigators are working closely with medical personnel to ensure the subject obtains the proper treatment. Criminal charges could follow at a later time.
