Ponchatoula Police announced the arrest of 32 YO Malcolm J. Chester on a First Degree Rape charge. Ponchatoula Police received the initial call regarding this incident, but requested that the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office conduct the investigation due to the suspect having a close relative that works for PPD. TPSO conducted the investigation and subsequently filed charges against Chester for First Degree Rape. The victim was a juvenile so the name will not be released. PPD Detectives and Street Crimes Unit placed Chester into custody. He was also booked on 12 failure to appear warrants through the City of Ponchatoula and a TPSO warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm from 2018.
