There will be a Patriot Day Ceremony today at 9 a.m. outside the Justice Center. The event, which will be hosted by American Legion Post 16, will honor all first responders, remembering those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Many agencies in the parish will form a parish-wide honor guard for the ceremony. The public is invited and encouraged to come show their support for all first responders. And Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer, the City Council, Police Chief Randy Fandal and the 9/11 Memorial Committee invite citizens to attend the City of Slidell’s Patriot Day Ceremony and Concert tonight at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium. The Patriot Day Ceremony will include a moment of silence and the ringing of the bell for those who were lost. Dan Crowley, Senior Chief Petty Officer (retired), will be the featured speaker. The Northshore Community Orchestra will also perform patriotic music during the event and The Blood Center will host a blood drive from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Auditorium Meeting Room.
The Slidell Municipal Auditorium is on Second Street in Olde Towne Slidell. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
