The Ponchatoula Police Department is investigating a string of overdoses in that city. The first call came in the evening of September 24th when a male who was unconscious and in need of medical attention was discovered at the Kiwanis Park. Officers arrived on the scene and the male was administered a dose of Narcan, regained consciousness, and was transported to North Oaks Medical Center. The second call occurred just 20 minutes later; this one a female who had possibly overdosed in the Walmart restroom. First responders administered aid to the unconscious female and then transported her to North Oaks Medical Center. The male that was accompanying her was arrested for Possession of Schedule I Drugs. At 7:52pm, PPD officers, Ponchatoula Fire Department, and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to President Hoover Street in reference to another overdose. This one, a female, was pronounced deceased by Acadian Personnel. Again, this is an ongoing investigation.
