On Monday, December 9, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were requested by the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer involved shooting. The incident took place on Nichols Road in St. Helena Parish. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that, shortly before 8:00PM, two St. Helena Parish deputies responded to a residence in an attempt to locate a wanted suspect. During the course of interaction with the suspect, a deputy discharged his duty weapon striking the individual. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No deputies were injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
