The Safe Haven Foundation wants you to mark your calendars for their Second Annual Northshore Picnic with a Purpose fundraising event, scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Castine Center in Mandeville. This year’s event fundraiser will benefit the Training and Education Center on the Safe Haven Campus. As one component of the campus, the Training and Education Center will provide resources for a variety of programs centered on behavioral health, with the mission of breaking down the stigma of mental health, providing education about the signs, and giving tools to appropriately respond to those suffering from behavioral health issues. It will provide a space to train various community members on how to identify and respond to these community needs. Senator Jack Donahue, founding member of the Safe Haven Foundation, says the anchor facility to the campus, a 24-bed Crisis Receiving Center — the first of its kind in Louisiana — is set to open in the first quarter of 2020.
