A young blacksmith from Loranger will compete for $10,000 on a History Channel series airing Wednesday night. 18 YO Cade Jenkins, a Southeastern student, is one of four blacksmiths who will be featured on Wednesday night’s Forged in Fire, a competition series that tests some of the best bladesmiths as they recreate some of history’s most iconic edged weapons. Tonight’s two-part show will focus on Jenkins and his three fellow contestants as they attempt to forge the iconic Rooster Head French Pioneer Sword. Jenkins makes high-end custom knives handcrafted in his shop in Tangipahoa Parish. Forged in Fire airs this Wednesday, on The History Channel at 8 p.m.
