The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration listed Interstate 10 as the deadliest highway in America. Statistics show it’s likely to be at its deadliest this week. The most Thanksgiving traffic fatalities in the nation from 2015 to 2018 have occurred on I-10 and its most treacherous stretch includes the 275 miles it travels through Louisiana, from Lake Charles through Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Roughly one-third of fatal holiday-season traffic accidents involve a drunken driver, and Louisiana has the seventh-highest rate of distracted driving incidents in the nation.
