On Friday morning, acting on the tip from a fellow student, Mandeville Jr. High Administration and the School Resource Officer recovered a handgun from a 13-year-old white male 7th grader. The 7th grader reportedly made threatening comments directed towards the SRO. The juvenile suspect was booked and transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center. Upon further investigation the juvenile was arrested for Carrying a Firearm on School Property. Further investigation also revealed there were no other credible threats to any of the students, staff, or School Resource Officers.
