Louisiana has its first presumptive case of COVID-19, the coronavirus. The case was reported in a Jefferson Parish resident who was hospitalized in Orleans Parish. The patient is being treated at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System. Residents are reminded to cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze, stay home if they are sick, and wash their hands regularly. Parish officials say they are in constant contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local health officials. City officials say there are no current plans to cancel any local events.
