UPDATE: DOTD has opened the lane and traffic is flowing as of 9 a.m.
Emergency repairs are underway along the outside (right) lane of I-12 westbound near Covington. The lane was closed as of 8:00 p.m. last night and could remain closed until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10th, according to the Department of Transportation and Development. The closure is located approximately one mile west of US 190 and will create delays through the area.
The closure is necessary to repair a failure in the road base. DOTD crews will be coring through the roadway and pumping concrete to fill the void before the lane can be reopened. DOTD has also spoken to the trucking industry about using I-10 as an alternate route to help mitigate the congestion. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zones, and be on the lookout for crews and their equipment.
