In just under a week, Armstrong International Airport closes at its current location and moves to the new terminal just south of I-10, off Loyola Drive. Last night state transportation officials held a public meeting to talk about plans to build new flyover ramps to help airport-related traffic avoid Loyola and Veterans Boulevards. Work has already begun according to officials at the Department of Transportation and Development. Last night officials said there’s more involved than just building on and off ramps and that property in the area will have to be acquired. The entire project is about three-and-a-half years from completion.
