Earlier this week North shore DA Warren Montgomery underwent surgery at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, according to a statement issued by his spokeswoman, Lisa Page. She wrote that Montgomery is expected to make a full recovery and that he and his family would appreciate your prayers and support. Officials within the DA’s office say that the 64 YO Montgomery will run for re-election. Page did not specify what kind of diagnosis Montgomery received or the type of surgery he had. M.D. Anderson is known as one of the country’s most well regarded facilities for cancer treatment.
Montgomery, who is in first term, faces re-election in the fall of 2020. He won the position after Walter Reed, who had held the office for 30 years, decided not to run as federal investigators pursued a case against him. Reed was convicted of corruption charges in 2017.
