Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller says the Club Deluxe Road expansion project is now complete. The $10.4 million project began under the tenure of the late Gordon Burgess, Tangipahoa’s first Parish President, and former Hammond Mayor Mayson Foster. In 2011, the parish was awarded a $225,000 grant to fund the preliminary design for subsurface drainage on the project. Over the next five years, the parish would amass numerous grant commitments, and in early January, 2016, as Burgess was preparing for his retirement, he said the Club Deluxe expansion was just one property-owner away from “being ready to begin.” The final project cost is a little more than $10.4 million, of which nearly $7.4 million went directly into construction of the expanded roadway. Utility relocation, purchase of land for right-of-way use, and consulting fees round out the remainder of the cost.
