Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal is speaking out in response to a recent incident regarding the recent arrest of a Slidell man for disturbing the peace and using obscene language in a public place. Fandal said the report and allegations being made on social media about the arrest, and by some news media, do not contain all of the facts surrounding the arrest or statements or interviews of the independent witnesses present at the time. He said the subject was not arrested for cursing at his child, or at the officer. Fandal said he was arrested for Disturbing the Peace by causing multiple disturbances in a Walmart by screaming multiple derogatory and racial words. Fandal said this subject went on a tirade, in a very public place, while in the presence of multiple children and families who were either trying to either shop or enjoy a Mardi Gras parade and this type of behavior was simply not going to be tolerated. Fandal said he stands by his statement that there was probable cause for the Disturbing the Peace charge.
