The St Tammany Chamber is reminding everyone to help ensure St. Tammany Parish has a complete and accurate 2020 Census count. They say our U.S. Constitution uses the official census to determine how federal funds are allocated and to determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Chamber quoted Parish President Mike Cooper, who stressed how important it is for residents to participate in the census. He said the count determines several factors the federal government uses to guide the distribution of federal money based on population, which will provide funding to be used here for local projects and services. Most households will receive their initial invitation to respond in the middle of this month. Citizens can choose to respond online, by mail or by phone.
