The Causeway Southbound was closed yesterday around 2 p.m. for about 3 hours after a fatal crash. Witnesses described the crash as “severe” and said the accident happened around mile marker 4 when a driver having possible car problems was rear-ended by an SUV, causing the SUV to flip. The woman driving the car had stopped in the lane when she was hit from behind. She reportedly died in the crash.
The Causeway Northbound had just reopened minutes earlier from another crash where, in that incident, another disabled vehicle was struck. 3 people were hospitalized. The Causeway Northbound had been closed for over an hour at that time.
