Yesterday two Slidell schools, Boyet Junior High School and Little Oak Elementary, were placed on lockdown because of the possibility of a suicidal person in the area. The lockdowns were lifted shortly after 2 p.m., according to Slidell Police. An increased police presence was maintained in the area throughout the day, but law enforcement officials determined that there was no immediate threat. The school system sent out robocalls to parents to alert them of the lockdown, which is the protocol followed by St. Tammany Parish schools.
A school lockdown basically means that no one can enter or leave the campus and students are not moved from class to class.
