Armstrong International in New Orleans received a 2.6 million dollar grant that will primarily be used for runway and taxiway improvements. The airport has received nearly ten million dollars in grants since November of last year. The one billion dollar new terminal was unveiled last year, but authorities have said the rest of the airport’s infrastructure could still use some work. Two taxiways are also set to undergo construction in the fall, part of a 40 million dollar project. And speaking of the airport, I-10 between Loyola Drive and Williams Boulevard in Kenner will be completely shut down for several hours overnight Saturday. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the closure is part of the construction plan for the I-10/Loyola Avenue interchange servicing the airport.
