An Amite service dog has been recognized by the Governor’s office for her efforts to keep her patient safe. Annie Frannie Corkern, a service dog belonging Connor Corkern of Amite, was named the 2019 “Service Animal of the Year” award winner by Gov. John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Edwards this week. Annie Frannie has been professionally trained to alert Connor’s family if he has any medical emergency. The GOLD Awards recognize extraordinary individuals and organizations that have contributed their time and talents to benefit the lives of persons with disabilities in Louisiana.
