STPPS schools said they were aware of a shortage of the weekly option of the “Grab and Go” meals Wednesday, saying it was the first day this was offered, and the demand was much greater than anticipated. On the first day of weekly distribution they distributed 6,002 weekly boxes and a total of 11,108 hot lunches and prepackaged breakfasts. They said they are working to find a solution that will meet the needs of the community to ensure every child in need of a meal is able to get one. Families who were not able to get weekly meals can pick up meals each weekday at Covington High or Slidell High from 11 AM – 1 PM.
