Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller issued a statement following the passing of former First Lady Margaret Burgess, who died Thursday in Houston. He said Mrs. Burgess, or ‘Mrs. Margaret,’ as so many knew her, was so much more than the wife of Tangipahoa’s first Parish President. An educator and a mentor, Mrs. Burgess nurtured the parish like she did her family and her students. She was an active First Lady, traveling to many events with Mr. Burgess. Miller called her a kind and gentle ambassador for Tangipahoa Parish, and said he joins the Burgess family in mourning her passing. Miller said funeral services will be announced soon.
