On Friday evening Fire District 2 responded to a structure fire at 501 S. Fairway Dr.
When the engine company arrived on the scene, they confronted heavy smoke and flames through the roof. All occupants were reported out of the building. Crews fought the fire for several hours before bringing it under control and then completely extinguishing it. One civilian sought medical treatment, then was released. No injuries were reported to fire personnel.
Residents were able to escape the burning home because smoke alarms alerted them to the danger. Have and know your escape plan in advance.
