Early voting began Saturday and continues daily through Nov. 9th. Election Day is Saturday, Nov. 16. In a statement issued to the press, Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson endorsed Steve Pugh for mayor. He said every year, safeguarding Ponchatoula gets tougher. School shootings, reckless driving, and crimes against seniors are just a few of many growing concerns. Layrisson said Ponchatoula could do better by moving forward with a mayor who is tougher on crime. He also said Pugh will make streets safer with major infrastructure improvements and that the widening of Highway 51 is long overdue. The chief said he would like to thank Mayor Zabbia for his 16 years of service and that moving forward with Steve Pugh does not require anyone to disrespect Bob Zabbia.
